London Designer Showrooms: Jewellery

London Fashion Week has come and gone, and we’ve been keeping track of some of the best designers presenting this year. From Vivienne Westwood’s 10 Downing Street inspired collection, to the star-spangled attire at Gareth Pugh. However, being fascinated with jewellery the most, we focused in on our top 3 favorite shows due to their use of accessories, in particular the ever-popular statement earring!

John Lo

Coming in at third place, is Hong Kong native, John Lo. The designer drew inspiration from China, his robes adorned with flower blossoms and layered with faux-fur scarves resembling rabbit skins. Lo unconventionally pairs elegant silks and embroidered dresses with silly knits and pompom socks. Elegant jewels worn in the models’ hair and around their necks further reinforce this juxtaposition. Among the loud attire, the women wore white-gold drop pendant necklaces, encrusted with jewels, complete with pearls all around the back of the neck. The drop earrings are just as elegant, gathering our attention directly to the models’ faces and doll-like makeup.

Last Monday, Canadian born, London based designer, Erdem showcased his 2016 Fall RTW Collection – comprised of mostly old Hollywood themed dresses. Dragging hemlines, bejeweled collars, elegant embroidery and frills – his collection was once again, signature to his style and show stopping to say the least. What struck us most were the multicolored jeweled earrings, picking up the reds, golds and hints of purple in the fabrics used.

Alexander McQueen

Our favourite bejeweled collection of London Fashion Week came from the house of Alexander McQueen. A heavily anticipated show, we expected the designs to be original and gothic in nature. Sarah Burton delivered, using zippers, chains and chokers to embellish the mostly black and blush RTW collection. The body chains proved that more is more when it comes to McQueen, and the multiple and sporadic hairpins had us drooling in our seats!
